DRC 15: Serge Lido Dance Photography Books

Title

DRC 15: Serge Lido Dance Photography Books

Description

This is a collection of seven published volumes of dance photography by Serge Lido. Serge Lido was born in Moscow in 1906, and later migrated to Paris, where he developed an international reputation as a photographer of dance in the mid-20th century. His photography was published in limited run serials, such as Danse, Ballet, and Les Ballets Americains, each of which is represented here. While mostly a showcase for the photography, each volume includes prefatory text and essays, including from figures such as George Balanchine, Jean Cocteau, and John Martin. These volumes were donated to the Dance Resources Center by Professor Douglas Nielsen in 2014.
