Description

This collection contains items collected throughout the life and career of dancer and teacher Gertrude Shurr, which were donated on her behalf by Rachael Yocom after her death in 1992. The collection documents Shurr’s involvement with and continuing interest in the Martha Graham and May O’Donnell Dance Companies, among others, as well as collected dance periodicals, materials pertaining to dance education, and personal and career documents. Also included are collected materials that reflect her interest in visual art and Southwestern and Native American art and culture, and a small amount of personal correspondence.
